As a student like me i was so curious about this what are the benefits of this machine to all the of us.But because of our society, environment a and all of the people around me i got some ideas about this topic.Poll Automated Machine is a machine were we used to vote easier and to avoid cheating. Vote is very important to us because of our vote we can choose the person we want to be lead in our country.In this momentous of our life we need to choose wisely we need to think twice but trice.They always says that youth is the future of our country.Yes it is true because youth is the key of our success in life.In voting we need top to choose who is really deserving in the position.Many of candidates says good things about they want to do in our country."PERO HINDI NAMAN ITO NAGKAKATOTOO" Thinking wisely is the best solution of poverty that we experience.Poverty is the most problem of the Filipino people.Because of voting the dis-deserving candidates that we vote.But theres a really a big problem in country the non stop corruption in our country.Yes its true corruption is the big problem here in our country not only here in our country but also in the whole world. Because of this problem we experience poverty.
At first, I was hesitant to talk about this poll automation project for the coming Philippine 2010 Election because I do not have enough knowledge about what’s the whole deal. Now, after watching the news, reading papers and insights from people, I now can say that the project is ambitious but then, why not embrace the trend of technology just for the benefit of “clean” election and faster results turn-out as they say.
Like many people into IT, I am also concerned on the technical side of this project, with how the whole system works. Like how they manage the voters list per machine, how is the reporting done to the main server, if how will they manage when failure occurs during transmission of data, how sure that the machines cannot be tampered, are the data (like voters list, candidates, security access) pre-registered per machine per precinct or what? Or I just did not watch their demo or read the actual technical papers? I hope that COMELEC asked some IT experts to help them with the technical details and procedures of the system. I know I make sense and I hope that they have this questions already answered because havingpoll automation delivering fast votes turn-out, cheating could also be automated. Who knows?
When i wad a little kid my parents always says to me that stay away from strangers.Good thing that i did'nt listen.Because if i did i will never find my dear friends.Yes my dearest friends that i foun in my college life .High School life is was so different in College life.In my high school days i have so many experience in my high school days i have my first crush first love that i will never for.But when i enter my college life my playfull life turn turn to a serious life.Automation may be one of the most significant move the government could take for faster election counting but it doesn’t really assure us that cheating and fraud in the 2010 elections will be eliminate.Still,we should guard our vote.Joining movement such.
we can change back to the way it was before when:
1. DIGNITY is more valued than money
2. Public Trust used to mean anything
3. Public service means serving the country and not personal interest
4. We feed our children with fruits of labor and not spoils of corruption
Change must start somewhere. It starts within the family. When Dad stops bribing traffic enforcers: when moms stops cutting in line at the permits office: when kids stop forging grades…… Help stop the chain….
i was so curios about this machine to be used so i got some research to know the process of using this machine.
The Voting Process
Voting in an automated election is simple and fast. The procedure is as follows:
- Voter's name is verified on the list of registered voters;
- Voter is given a ballot, a secrecy folder (to cover voter in making his/her choices) and a pen;
- Voter proceeds to a voting booth or spot;
- Voter darkens or shades the ovals opposite the names of candidates and parties of his/her choice;
- Voter feeds or inserts the completed ballot on the PCOS machine ballot slot (the ballot can be fed to the machine in any orientation: top, bottom or either end);
- The machine reads or scans the votes (marked ovals) on both sides of the ballot simultaneously;
- The scanned ballot is ejected through the other end of the machine and is dropped on the ballot box; and
- Voter returns the secrecy folder and pen to the BEI, his/her right index finger nail is marked with an indelible ink, and affixes his/her thumbmark on the computerized voter list.
